Due to the increase of the world population and the
urbanization, the need for the structural environment for social and cultural
activities is increasing day by day. Due to the developing technology, the
increase in expectation for more useful structures increases the natural
resource, energy and raw material requirements used in the construction
process. The use of these resources in high quantities during the construction
phase can bring about various environmental problems. For this reason, it is
necessary that the structures interacting with environment through their life
cycle should be harmonious and sustainable in their surroundings.
Sustainability in the construction sector is possible through sustainable
construction. Legal arrangements, institutional structures have significant
impacts for achieving sustainable construction that is a current and global
requirement. From this point forth, in this study have been researched and
evaluated that the laws and regulations, national and international standards
that developed for the coordination of sustainable construction in Turkey. An
analysis work that gathered data relating to laws, regulations and standards
directly or indirectly contributing to ensuring sustainable construction has
been put forward.
