In textile dye houses, a significant
amount of stenter flue exhaust including oil particles and hazardous dusts is
released to the atmosphere during the processes of thermofixing (especially
pre-fixing) and drying. The amount of oil in this emmision varies depending on
the type of the fabric. These burnt oil and dusts produce a strong odor
emmision. They also leak out from the stenter flue and cause contamination of
the surrounding environment. In this
study, clean production efforts in parallel to “Integrated Pollution Prevention
and Control Directive” were evaluated in a textile fabric dyeing facility located in Bursa. Thanks to the electrostatic filters
installed on the flue of stenter machine, the particles in polluted air are
electically charged with high voltage, collected by a collector and thereafter
seperated oily particules are accumulated in a receptacle. In the study,
technical and environmental performances, potential benefits and savings were
determined. By applying the suggested best available technique now and in the
future, approximately 15% of natural gas
will be saved and approximately 90% of
odor emmissions will be reduced. The return time for the suggested best
available techniques was calculated as nearly 3 years.

Furthermore two new sections, i.e. ‘Conflict of Interest’ and ‘Author Contribution’, should be added to the manuscript. Links of those forms that should be submitted with the initial manuscript can be found in our 'Author Guidelines' and 'Submission Procedure' pages. The manuscript template is also updated. For articles reviewed and accepted for publication in our 2021 and ongoing issues and for articles currently under review process, those forms should also be fulfilled, signed and uploaded to the system by authors.
