BİRİNCİ SINIF HEMŞİRELİK ÖĞRENCİLERİNİN MESLEK TERCİH NEDENLERİ VE MESLEK ALGILARI: NİTEL BİR ÇALIŞMA
Abstract
Amaç: Bu çalışmada, hemşirelik bölümü birinci sınıf öğrencilerinin, hemşirelik mesleğini tercih etme sürecine etki eden etmenlerin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır.
Gereç-Yöntem: Karma tipte yapılan bu çalışmanın evrenini bir üniversitede hemşirelik bölümü birinci sınıfta öğrenim gören 100 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Çalışma iki bölümden oluşmaktadır. Çalışmanın ilk aşamasına, çalışmaya katılmayı kabul eden ve veri toplama aracını eksiksiz dolduran 88 öğrenci dâhil edilmiştir. İkinci aşamada ise öğrencilere 1’den 88’e kadar numara verilmiş, numaralar kâğıtlara yazılarak bir torbaya konmuş, torbadan rastgele 20 kâğıt seçilmiştir. Veri doygunluğuna ulaşıldığı için 14. görüşmede araştırma sonlandırılmıştır. Veri toplama aracı olarak, araştırmacılar tarafından hazırlanan Öğrenci Bilgi Formu ve 10 sorudan oluşan Yarı Yapılandırılmış Görüşme Formu kullanılmıştır. Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) 21 paket programı kullanılarak nicel veriler elde edilmiştir.
Bulgular: Çalışmanın nitel bulguları ise içerik analizi yöntemi kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Yapılan görüşmeler analiz edildiğinde “hemşirelik mesleğine ilgi”, “hemşirelik mesleğinin imajı” ve “meslek-kişilik arasındaki bağ” olmak üzere üç ana tema ortaya çıkmıştır.
Sonuç: Sonuç olarak katılımcıların hemşirelik mesleğine erken yaşlardan itibaren ilgi duydukları ve katılımcıların kişilik özellikleri ile meslekleri arasında bağ kurdukları belirlenmiştir. Katılımcılar, hemşirelik mesleğinin toplumsal imajının hem olumlu hem de olumsuz olabildiğini belirterek hemşirelik mesleğinin imajının olumlu yönde değiştirilmesi gerektiğini vurgulamışlardır.
